Dental Checkups at Parramatta Dental Clinic

Most oral health problems are preventable. That’s why we recommend regular checkups, scale and cleans for each of our patients. During your visit we’ll strategize on ways to reduce the risk of gum disease, tooth decay and other common dental concerns.

With regular preventative care, you can intercept problems when they’re smaller and easier to correct.

During Your Scale and Clean

While you’re here, we’ll measure your gum and bone attachment levels around each tooth. This gum disease screening will pinpoint any areas of concern, before tooth mobility or loss pop up unexpectedly.

Your dentist will also evaluate your TMJ, screen for oral cancer, evaluate your occlusion (bite) and discuss any specific questions you have. If you need treatment, we’ll review all of the appropriate options and map out a detailed care plan for your review.

Fissure Sealants

Protective pit and fissure sealants lower the risk of cavities in the deep grooves of your back teeth. We recommend them on permanent molars, which erupt around the ages of 6 and 12, respectively.

Since sealants are a preventative treatment, there’s no numbing or drilling necessary. It only takes a few minutes to place each one; we can easily work the procedure into you or your child’s checkup.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer is a deadly disease that is difficult to diagnose. As your oral health provider, we’re able to screen for precancerous and pathological tissues on a regular basis, allowing for quicker diagnosis. The sooner oral cancer is detected, the greater the chance of recovery.

Will I Need X-rays?

Digital X-rays make it possible to see areas inside of your mouth that aren’t visible during an exam. We use them on a periodic basis to screen for cavities, bone loss, abscesses, cracked teeth and orthodontic concerns. They’re safe and convenient, ensuring the best experience for you and your family.

Know the Signs of Gum Disease

Regular scale and cleans help to reduce the risk of periodontal (gum) disease. Since tartar buildup accumulates under the gumlines, it can lead to infection and permanent structural damage. Some of the symptoms of periodontitis include:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Swelling
  • Tooth mobility
  • Gum recession
  • Tooth movement
  • Gaps between teeth
